Size on cfm, not pipe
Pick the size for your compressor's output. Too small and it chokes the line; too large and water passes straight through.
Before the dryer
A dryer fed with liquid water is working on the wrong problem. Take the water out first.
Drain it
A separator with a full sump is just a pipe. Fit an auto-drain at the base.
